I ♥  Ikea, and have only just found out today that they have an Ikea Family Live website. They have loads of real beautiful homes and blogs on there. I especially love this home:

You can't go very wrong with white walls and brightly coloured furniture & accessories. Plus, I love the pink cupboard!

I definately need to make a trip to Ikea soon :)

Time to do my daughters room! I'm going to be painting the walls and getting rid of the really horrible carpet!! I'm sure that when it was laid down by the previous owners, that it looked nice but now its just old and seen many better days! Here is a 'before' pic of my daughters bedroom:

I have emptied all her things out (apart from her bed and wardrobe; there is no space to put those elsewhere) and will hopefully start on it while she is @ school tomorrow. I cant wait :)

Finally, it's finished! Heres the pictures of the bedroom :) It has taken me 2 1/2 days to do, but I'm soooo glad to be rid of that carpet. I have a very happy 3 year old too!

I painted this little Ikea chair blue, it looks really nice in the corner of his bedroom. All I need now is a picture or two for the walls :)

Not quite finished my little boy's room yet; the floor is all painted, just need to do the skirting boards and sort out where the furniture is going to go. It's an odd shaped room, so it's going to be a BIG nightmare fitting everything in so it looks nice, but I can't wait to see the end result. I searched online to find out images of other kids bedrooms with white painted flooboards, and I found some which are really inspiring:

I'm having a very busy day today, full of hard work as usual! I have finally got round to pulling up my 3 year old sons bedroom carpet up. It was a depressing dark blue, and very threadbare. We have lived here for two years now, and thats how long I have wanted to pull it up for! But today I finally did it hooray! Anyway, I dont have the funds just yet for another repalcement carpet, so I have decided to paint the floorboards white. I will post up some pictures as soon as I have finished the painting. :)

It's been a very busy couple of weeks for me, the kids are off school & nursery, so there's not been much time for making anything! However, I did manange to make this gorgeous patchwork cushion. I have never made anything patchwork before, but I like how the cushion turned out. I just used bits of leftover Cath Kidston fabric :)
I also got round to painting this frame for the box of butterflies picture that I made. Because my living room walls are white, and so was the frame (and the picture!), it looked a bit lost on the wall. So I mixed my own paint colour to make the light blue tone and I love how the butterflies stand out more now. Oh, and I had to add the little heart, I'm obsessed with hanging hearts!

The only other thing I got round to doing was giving a major tidy-up to my teeny tiny sewing room. All I need now is some time on my own and another big bundle of fabric, and I'm sorted. x

Sunday 27 May 2012

Even though it's not the weather for staying in & making stuff, I have still got round to doing a few bits that I have wanted to tick off my list for aaaages!! The first thing was this lovely lovely cuckoo clock embroidery. I have never done an embroidery before, and I am very pleased with the way it turned out. I got the pattern free from Mollie Makes magazine, but you can also buy it from Wild Olive. I Framed it in a simple clip-frame and sewed on some Cath Kidston fabric as a border, as the edges of the linen looked scruffy.

Another thing I got round to doing was this beautiful shabby chic unit. It was given to me, and it was mahogany (which I hate!). So after painting it white outside and Farrow & Ball's 'Cooking Apple Green' inside, it now proudly stands in my bedroom where I store my bedding. I love it! :)

And...another birdy picture!! I think this is the fifth one I have made now, I just love them so much! I have made this one for my mum though, and it will be hard to part with it. But then again, I have a feeling I will be making many more for my home :)
